Bylaws of the Branches of the Zoological Society of Japan, Public Interest Incorporated Foundation
Based on Article 3, Paragraph 2 of the Articles of Incorporation of the Zoological Society of Japan, a public interest incorporated association, and Article 13 of the Detailed Regulations of the Articles of Incorporation of the Zoological Society of Japan (hereinafter referred to as the "Detailed Regulations"), the regulations for the branches of the Zoological Society of Japan, a public interest incorporated association (hereinafter referred to as the "Branches"), are established as follows.
Article 1
The branch aims to contribute to the popularization and development of zoology by maintaining close cooperation with the headquarters of the Zoological Society of Japan, a public interest incorporated association, and other branches.
Article 2
In principle, a branch shall be composed of members of the Zoological Society of Japan (abbreviated as branch members) who reside or belong to an institution in the district where the branch is located.
Article 3
The branch manager shall be appointed from among the candidates for the board of directors who receive the highest number of votes in the branch. If there are multiple candidates with the highest number of votes, the candidate with the later date of birth shall be the branch manager.
2 The president and vice-president may not concurrently serve as branch managers.
Article 4
Each branch shall have branch representative members. Branch representative members shall be elected from among regular members and student members, excluding honorary members. The fixed number of branch representative members in each branch shall be determined in conjunction with the fixed number of directors for that branch. The combined fixed number of branch representative members and directors shall be two for branches with up to 100 regular members, and shall increase by one for each additional 100 regular members exceeding 100 members for branches with more than 100 regular members. However, the maximum number of branch representative members in a single branch shall be limited to ten.
2 Candidates for branch representative committee members shall be selected for each branch. Based on the candidate rankings from the board member election, the selection shall include members up to the fixed number in order of highest votes, excluding board member candidates. In the event of a tie in votes, members with later dates of birth shall be elected.
3 If a candidate for director or a director becomes absent for any reason, the next candidate in order of vote count shall become the runner-up. Those already appointed as branch representatives are also included among such candidates. For vacancies that arise among branch representatives, new runners-up shall be determined in accordance with the order of vote counts.
4 Branch representative committee members, together with branch-elected directors, shall mutually elect members of the Academic Award Selection Committee and others.
5. Branch representative committee members shall work together with branch-elected directors to promote branch activities and, when commissioned by the chairperson, shall organize various committees.
6 The term of office for branch representative committee members shall be two years, and three consecutive terms shall not be permitted.
7 Directors and auditors cannot concurrently serve as branch representative committee members.
Article 5
Each branch may appoint branch committee members and others involved in various operations.
2 The term of office, fixed number, and method of election of branch committee members and others shall be determined by each branch.
Article 6
The branch office shall conduct the following operations.
- Branch Tournament: Held generally once a year. Conducts lectures, research presentations, etc.
- In addition, the businesses specified in each item of Article 5 of the Articles of Incorporation
Article 7
Amendments and abolition of these regulations shall be made by the Board of Directors.
Supplementary Provisions
These regulations shall come into effect on July 2, 2012.

Bylaws of the Chubu Branch of the Zoological Society of Japan
Article 1 (Name)
It is named the Chubu Branch of the Zoological Society of Japan, Public Interest Incorporated Association.
Article 2 (Organization)
It shall be established as a subsidiary body of the Zoological Society of Japan, a Public Interest Incorporated Association.
Article 3 (Members)
Chubu Branch members (hereinafter abbreviated as branch members) shall be organized by members of the Zoological Society of Japan residing in the nine prefectures of Nagano, Shizuoka, Gifu, Aichi, Mie, Yamanashi, Toyama, Fukui, and Ishikawa.
Article 4 (Purpose)
The purpose of the branch is to promote interaction among branch members and contribute to the development of academic studies.
Article 5
Branch members may participate in activities conducted by the branch and receive distribution of publicity materials issued by the branch.
In addition, opinions regarding the management of the branch can be submitted to the branch convention and the branch committee.
Article 6 (Officers and Bodies)
The following branch officers shall be appointed to this branch.
(1) One Branch Manager (concurrently serving as a Director of the Zoological Society of Japan)
(2) One Board Member of the Zoological Society of Japan
(3) Branch Representative Members (The fixed number is determined by the Zoological Society of Japan Branch Regulations.)
(4) District committee members (1 per prefecture)
(5) Several standing committee members (general affairs, public relations, accounting, and others)
Branch managers and directors are elected in accordance with the Zoological Society of Japan Articles of Incorporation, and branch representative committee members are elected in accordance with the society's branch regulations. Regional committee members are appointed by the branch manager in accordance with the society's branch regulations. The term of office for branch officers is two years (from the General Meeting of the Zoological Society of Japan until the same General Meeting two years later), and in principle, being elected for three consecutive terms is not permitted.
Article 7
Branch officers organize branch meetings. Chubu branch members among the committee members stipulated in the Zoological Society of Japan Bylaws shall constitute the members of the branch meeting. Branch meetings are held when convened by the branch president and deliberate on the operation of the branch. Upon the request of half or more of the branch officers, the branch president must convene a branch meeting. In addition, a branch meeting shall be established with the attendance of two-thirds or more of the committee members.
Article 8
The branch manager is responsible for the operation of the branch.
Article 9
District committee members represent the branch members residing in each prefecture. District committee members are appointed by the branch president from among the resident branch members.
Article 10
Standing committee members assist the branch manager and are in charge of branch operations. Standing committee members are appointed by the branch manager upon the recommendation of district committee members.
Article 11
Amendments to these regulations must be deliberated at a branch meeting and require the approval of at least two-thirds of the branch committee members. Furthermore, if an amendment to the regulations is proposed by a resolution of at least one-fifth of the branch members, it must be deliberated.
Article 12
The fiscal year begins on July 1 of each year and ends on June 30 of the following year.
The expenses of this branch shall be covered by the branch activity funds. For the branch general meeting, a meeting fee and other temporary expenses may be collected. The business report and financial settlement shall be reported to the branch members after the end of the fiscal year.
Details
Branch meetings shall, as a general rule, be held once every year.
Branch representative committee members shall be those with the next highest number of votes after the branch-elected directors in the director candidate election. In the event of a tie in the number of votes, the member with the longer membership history shall be selected.
If a vacancy occurs among the branch representative committee members or branch-elected directors due to resignation, transfer, long-term absence, or other reasons, the runner-up or subsequent candidates shall be promoted to fill the positions of branch representative committee member and branch-elected director. Their term of office shall be the remaining term of their predecessor.
