Bylaws of the Branches of the Zoological Society of Japan
Based on Article 3, Paragraph 2 of the Articles of Incorporation of the Zoological Society of Japan, a public interest incorporated association, and Article 13 of the Detailed Regulations of the Articles of Incorporation of the Zoological Society of Japan (hereinafter referred to as the "Detailed Regulations"), the regulations for the branches of the Zoological Society of Japan, a public interest incorporated association (hereinafter referred to as the "Branches"), are established as follows.
Article 1. The purpose of the branch is to contribute to the promotion and development of zoology by maintaining close cooperation with the headquarters of the Zoological Society of Japan, a public interest incorporated association, and other branches.
Article 2. As a rule, a branch shall be composed of regular members of the Zoological Society of Japan (abbreviated as branch members) who reside or belong to an institution in the district where the branch is located.
Article 3. The branch manager shall be the candidate who receives the highest number of votes in the branch manager candidate election within that branch. If there are multiple candidates with the highest number of votes, the branch manager shall be the one with the later date of birth.
2 The president and vice-president may not concurrently serve as branch managers.
Article 4: Each branch shall have branch representative members. Branch representative members shall be elected from among regular members and student members, excluding honorary members. The fixed number of branch representative members in each branch shall be half of the fixed number of board members for that branch.
2 Candidates for branch representative committee members shall be selected for each branch. Based on the candidate rankings from the board member election, the selection shall include members up to the fixed number in order of highest votes, excluding board member candidates. In the event of a tie in votes, members with later dates of birth shall be elected.
3 If a candidate for director or a director becomes absent for any reason, the next candidate in order of vote count shall become the runner-up. Those already appointed as branch representatives are also included among such candidates. For vacancies that arise among branch representatives, new runners-up shall be determined in accordance with the order of vote counts.
4 Branch representative committee members, together with branch-elected directors, shall mutually elect members of the Academic Award Selection Committee and others.
5. Branch representative committee members shall work together with branch-elected directors to promote branch activities and, when commissioned by the chairperson, shall organize various committees.
6 The term of office for branch representative committee members shall be two years, and three consecutive terms shall not be permitted.
7 Directors and auditors cannot concurrently serve as branch representative committee members.
Article 5 Each branch may appoint branch committee members and the like who are engaged in various operations.
2 The term of office, fixed number, and method of election of branch committee members and others shall be determined by each branch.
Article 6 The branch shall conduct the following activities:
・Branch conference: As a rule, held once a year. Lectures, research presentations, etc. will be held.
- In addition, businesses specified in each item of Article 5 of the Articles of Incorporation
Article 7. The Board of Directors shall make any revisions or abolishments of these Rules.
Supplementary Provisions
These regulations shall come into effect on July 2, 2012.
