Here is an announcement for a public symposium from the Biophysical Society of Japan.
Due to the rapid advancement of generative AI and AGI, the academic publishing process itself—including not only paper writing but also peer review and editing—is facing a major turning point. In particular, how to approach AI is becoming an unavoidable issue in the management and editorial policies of English and Japanese journals published by academic societies.
This symposium
Paper Redesign: The Future of Academic Publishing in the Era of Generative AI and AGI
Starting from the question, "What if the authors are AI and the editorial department is also AI?", we will discuss from multifaceted perspectives how research outcomes involving AI should be evaluated and published, and what the future roles of journals and academic societies should be.
This content is designed especially for editors-in-chief and editorial board members of academic journals (both English and Japanese journals). Please take this opportunity to use this as a platform for exchanging views on editorial and peer-review practices, institutional design, and future visions.
