National Institute for Basic Biology https://www.nibb.ac.jp/ ) conducts research using a diverse range of organisms to elucidate their fundamental mechanisms as well as the mechanisms by which they have acquired diversity. In addition, as an inter-university research institute, we promote collaborative research with university researchers and others. Professor, National Institute for Basic Biology
Associate Professor, National Institute for Basic Biology
The number of people to be selected, including both professors and associate professors, shall be a few.

Upon assuming the position, the professor will newly hire one or two research and educational staff members (associate professor or assistant professor) and, together with one technical staff member, form a research group (research division). The associate professor will newly hire one specially appointed assistant professor and form an independent research group (laboratory). In doing so, personnel affairs must be conducted in accordance with the "Basic Policy for the Promotion of Diversity at the National Institute for Basic Biology."

Job Description
[Professor and Independent Associate Professor, National Institute for Basic Biology]
(1) To create a new research field in fundamental biology and promote advanced research.
(2) To fulfill the role of the National Institute for Basic Biology as a inter-university research institute.
(3) To serve as a professor or associate professor in the Department of Evolutionary Studies of Bioscience, SOKENDAI (The Graduate University for Advanced Studies), and engage in the five-year integrated doctoral program education.
(Scope of change) Duties determined by the National Institutes of Natural Sciences

Work style
National Institute for Biology, Professor (Full-time: regular employment system (retirement age: 65))
National Institute for Basic Biology, Associate Professor (Full-time: 5-year fixed term. Renewable up to a maximum of 10 years upon review.)
Subject to screening, there is a possibility of promotion to professor and transition to the tenure system (mandatory retirement age of 65).
