On March 31, the National Biodiversity Strategy 2023-2030 was approved by the Cabinet.
This strategy was formulated based on the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework adopted at the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) to the Convention on Biological Diversity last December, and is the first of its kind in the world.
We have established this strategy as a means to protect and utilize biodiversity and natural capital—which form the foundation of Earth's sustainability and the core of human security—with the aim of achieving a nature-positive world by 2030.

In the new national strategy, in addition to maintaining and restoring ecosystem health, other pillars of the basic strategy are included, such as solving social issues through nature-based regional promotion, economic activities that contribute to nature positive, and behavioral changes of individuals. Thus, the importance of collaboration among diverse stakeholders and social transformation is emphasized more than ever before. Therefore, I am contacting you to spread the word widely.
We would appreciate your continued understanding and cooperation regarding biodiversity conservation efforts based on this strategy.
