We extend our heartfelt sympathies to those affected by the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake, which struck on January 1st with a maximum intensity of 7 on the Japanese seismic scale and caused extensive and severe damage across a wide area. We sincerely pray for the earliest possible recovery of your living conditions.

We have heard that universities and research institutes suffered heavy damage in this earthquake, causing major disruptions to research activities. As an inter-university research institute, the National Institute for Basic Biology, National Institutes of Natural Sciences, has initiated support for research institutes and researchers whose research activities have been disrupted by the disaster.

Joint Usage and Joint Research conducted by the National Institute for Basic Biology ( https://www.nibb.ac.jp/collabo/invite/invite.html , in accordance with the above, to support the early recovery of research and educational activities of affected researchers, this program provides a place for research activities (such as open labs) to continue their research at the National Institute for Biology for a certain period [Support 1].
