Notice of the 90th Seto Marine Biological Seminar
From 16:00 on Thursday, October 24, we are welcoming Yoshitaka Shiraki from Hokkaido University to present his research findings on the diversity of sea centipedes (skeleton shrimp) and their utilization by parasites as hosts. This will be held online via Zoom.

Title: Diversity of Sea Stick Insects
Abstract:
Valvifera are a group of isopod crustaceans with slender bodies that are, as the name suggests, primarily marine. About 600 species are known worldwide, including 43 from Japan. However, many undescribed species still remain, and the understanding of their diversity is lagging, even domestically. In this seminar, I will introduce my taxonomic research on Valvifera conducted thus far. In addition, it has recently become clear that various parasites use Valvifera as hosts. I will also introduce the diversity of Valvifera as hosts.
