Dear Members of the Zoological Society of Japan
Happy New Year.
I am Kuratani, Editor-in-Chief of Zoological Letters.
We are pleased to inform you that the Board of Directors has recently approved the APC Support Program to assist our society members in publishing in Zoological Letters (ZL).
This system will be implemented as a three-year pilot program starting in fiscal year 2026, with the aim of promoting submissions to Zoological Letters and supporting society members in publishing high-quality papers.
<APC支援制度の概要>
- Support period: FY2026 – FY2028
- Support details: APC support is provided up to the equivalent amount of "7 APCs" per year.
- Supporting condition: The corresponding author must be a member of the Zoological Society of Japan at both the time of submission and the time of acceptance.
<「7本分相当額」の考え方について>
In this system, the annual upper limit of the APC covered by the academic society is defined on a monetary basis as an amount equivalent to 7 APCs. If the corresponding author has a system at their affiliated institution that can cover half of the APC, the society's share is calculated as equivalent to 0.5 APCs.
<会計年度・受付方法について>
This system is operated based on the academic society's fiscal year (July 1 to June 30 of the following year).
Support will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis for papers accepted on or after July 1, 2026.
Due to accounting procedures, this is limited to transactions that can be completed within the academic society's fiscal year.
<APC支援の支払い方法について>
APC must be paid upfront out of pocket by the member, and upon presentation of the payment receipt, the academic society will deposit the corresponding amount into the member's personal bank account or similar. Please note that advance payments and disbursements via research funds are not permitted.
We hope that many of our members will take advantage of this program, and that the dissemination of zoological research through Zoological Letters will become even more active. Thank you for your continued support.
