We are pleased to announce that the Smart Breeding Association has begun accepting applications for the 5th "Genome Editing Technology Practical Research Grant (GetRG)."
This grant was established in 2021 by four genome-editing startups with the aim of raising the research level utilizing genome-editing technology and expanding it into industrial fields. Since 2023, its operation has been taken over by the Smart Breeding Council, and we have adopted 18 research projects to date.
We welcome applications from domestic researchers across a wide range of fields, including agriculture, fisheries, livestock, microbiology, and cultured cells, spanning from the basic research phase to the applied research phase.

Application Requirements
Young researchers (including students) with a specific plan to independently invent and develop superior genome editing-related technologies and breeding technologies (the definition of a young researcher is not strictly defined)
● Individuals affiliated with research institutions in Japan, or those conducting research activities within Japan
■Grants
● Subsidy amount: Up to 3 million yen per project (may exceed the upper limit if multiple courses are selected)
● Number of grants: approx. 3
● Use of grant funds:
Costs directly necessary for the implementation of the target project
○Including personnel costs for the applicant and co-researchers
○ No restrictions regarding the budget year or research implementation period
* This research grant assumes joint research or commissioned research with a company. Regarding the specific contract details, each company will discuss them with you after selection.
