General presentations will be poster-only. We believe that students will also be able to discuss their work thoroughly and relaxedly in a spacious venue without feeling nervous, so we encourage you to actively submit presentation abstracts. Meanwhile, we will hold open-call symposia and related meetings in an in-person presentation format to provide a venue for reviewing hot topics and deepening discussions. Applications are already open, so please feel free to apply. We sincerely hope that many of you will attend this conference and help make it a success.

It has been a full 31 years since a congress was last held in Nagoya. Rooted in the spiritual climate of a region where heavy industries such as automobiles and aircraft, as well as high-tech industries, have flourished, a unique form of science has developed here since the introduction of modern science from the Edo period to the early Meiji period. For the Nagoya Congress, we are preparing to showcase a historical aspect of this region's zoological research. We hope you look forward to it. In addition, based on this spiritual climate of the Nagoya region, there are numerous places we would like you to visit, such as unique museums and art galleries found nowhere else, historical heritage sites, and some of Japan's finest zoos and aquariums. (Right next to the venue are the SCMAGLEV and Railway Park and LEGOLAND. The Tokaido Shinkansen "Doctor Yellow," which retires at the end of January, is scheduled to be housed at the SCMAGLEV and Railway Park in June.) Along with active presentations and discussions at the academic conference, we would be delighted if you would seize this opportunity to fully enjoy the regional charm of Nagoya as well.

The tournament schedule is as indicated below (please note that, as shown in red, the schedule differs in part from usual years). The schedule and start/end times are subject to slight changes due to circumstances.

5. General Papers

All general presentations will be poster presentations and will be held on the second and third days of the conference. Presentation guidelines will be posted on the conference website.

General presentations as the primary presenter are limited to one per person. Presentations are restricted to members of the Zoological Society of Japan, so non-members must join the Zoological Society of Japan. Membership registration and dues payment proceduresZoological Society of Japan website(Postscript April 16, 2025: New members can present at the Nagoya Conference by paying the membership fee for the 2025 academic year (July 2025 – June 2026).)

Even if you are already a member, those who have not paid their membership dues up for the 2024 academic year (July 2024 to June 2025) cannot present. Please apply for a presentation after paying your dues.

6. Tournament participation and abstract submission methods

Once you have completed entering the required information and paying the registration fee by credit card on the registration site, a registration ID will be issued and displayed on the screen. The registration ID is required when submitting an abstract, so please be sure to print it out and keep it in a safe place.

The deadline for abstract submission is Friday, May 30, 2025, at 12:00 PM, and modifications can be made until Friday, June 6, 2025, at 12:00 PM.

Undergraduate and graduate students who wish to attend without presenting a paper should register at the venue reception on the day of the conference.(A membership number of the Zoological Society of Japan is not required for registration.)

We have decided to use a venue outside the university and, due to recent price hikes, we are unavoidably raising the registration and banquet fees for regular and non-members (the registration and banquet fees for student members will remain unchanged).

Please pay the conference registration fee and banquet fee by credit card after completing your registration. Cards in a name other than the participant's name may also be used. Credit card information, such as the cardholder's name and number, is used exclusively for card payment, and neither the Zoological Society of Japan nor the Annual Meeting Executive Committee will have access to this data.

Cancellations of tournament participation are accepted until Friday, August 22. If you are forced to cancel your participation, please notify the Zoological Society Secretariat (zsj-society [at] zoology.or.jp). Please note that participation fees and banquet fees cannot be refunded for cancellations made after this date.

8. Social gathering

9. Nursery room

A childcare room will be established during the conference. A "Childcare Survey of Interest" will be conducted in July, followed by a final call for childcare requests in late August. Contracts will be concluded directly between the users and the childcare contractor. Please note that the conference will subsidize up to half of the childcare fees, but the subsidy rate may vary depending on the usage status of the childcare room.

14. Accommodations, etc.

The host city of Nagoya is one of Japan's three major metropolitan areas and is the Chubu region's leading government-ordinance-designated city with a population of over 2.3 million. Although Nagoya has numerous accommodations, it is difficult to estimate hotel congestion due to recent inbound tourism and the ongoing Osaka Expo. We recommend booking your accommodation as early as possible.
