To the members of the Zoological Society of Japan

On February 15 and 16, the National Institute of Genetics and the Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas "Japanesia Genomics" will jointly host a symposium commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of the genome concept.

Initially, it was planned to be held at Plaza Verde in Numazu at the end of August 2020 to commemorate the exact 100th anniversary of Hans Winkler proposing the genome concept in his 1920 book (see Reference 1). However, due to the spread of COVID-19, it was postponed to February 15–17 of this year and further changed to be held entirely online via Zoom.

Five keynote speakers and 38 invited speakers from Japan and abroad will give presentations over two and a half days.
