Selection of Grantees for the 2023 Mariko Myohara Research Encouragement Grant

Dear Members of the Zoological Society of Japan

At the meeting of the Zoological Society of Japan Board of Directors held on Saturday, June 17, starting at 12:00, three candidates for the 2023 grants were recommended by the Mariko Myohara Research Encouragement Grant Selection Committee.
As a result of its deliberation, the Zoological Society of Japan Board of Directors has decided to award grants to the following three individuals.

Naoki Matsuda, Program-Specific Assistant Professor, Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University
Elucidation of male-host-specific functions of aphid endosymbionts

Asuka Sakazume, Researcher, Faculty of Core Research, Ochanomizu University
Elucidation of the vertical swimming mechanism of Acropora coral larvae

Reiko Okada, Associate Professor, Department of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, Shizuoka University
Endocrinological regulatory mechanisms involved in the freezing tolerance of the Japanese tree frog
