The 96th Annual Meeting of the Zoological Society of Japan will be held as follows:From Thursday, September 4 to Saturday, September 6, 2025for 3 days, in Minato Ward, Nagoya CityPortmesse Nagoya ( https://portmesse.com/ will be held in-person at ). At this conference, general presentations will be poster presentations only. We believe that students will also be able to discuss their work thoroughly and comfortably without tension in a spacious venue, so we strongly encourage you to submit abstracts.
The deadlines for various event applications are scheduled for Friday, March 28, 2025, for public symposia and related meetings; Thursday, May 30, 2025, for general abstracts; and Monday, June 9, 2025, for the Zoology Plaza.
Access to the venue is about 20 minutes from Nagoya Station via the Aonami Line. Nagoya City, where the event will be held, is one of the three major metropolitan areas and has numerous accommodations; however, since it coincides with the period of the Osaka Expo, it is difficult to estimate hotel congestion. We recommend booking your accommodation as early as possible.
This Nagoya conference features a different approach from the conventional format, moving away from the university setting to a spacious exhibition venue facing Ise Bay, centered on poster presentations of research, with symposia and related meetings held in the adjacent convention center. At a time when genome editing and genome information acquisition are becoming readily achievable in a wide variety of animals, we recognize that an era is dawning in which the unique phenomena accumulated by members of the Zoological Society can be analyzed precisely from new perspectives, allowing us to portray a new, comprehensive picture of organisms that could not be unraveled using model animals. We are convinced that this is an era in which the traditional Zoological Society can further evolve and transform, and the organizing committee is making every effort to ensure the conference is fitting for this new era of the Society.
HereThis is truly the first time in 31 years that the tournament will be held in Nagoya.. The cultural ethos of this region, where heavy industries such as automobiles and aircraft, as well as high-tech industries, have flourished, has fostered a unique scientific tradition dating back to the Edo period and the early Meiji era, when modern science was first introduced. At the Nagoya Conference, we are preparing to showcase a glimpse of the history of zoological research in this region. We hope you look forward to it.Furthermore, rooted in this unique local ethos, the Nagoya area boasts many one-of-a-kind museums, art galleries, and historical sites, as well as some of Japan’s finest zoos and aquariums—all places we hope you will visit (the JR Tokai Maglev Museum and Legoland are located right next to the conference venue).Along with lively presentations and discussions at the conference, we hope you will take this opportunity to fully enjoy the charms of the Nagoya region.

The conference registration fee and banquet fee are set in three stages (Early Bird Registration: until May 10; Mid-Term Registration: until May 30; Late Registration: from May 31 to August 16). Early registration offers a lower fee. Please register early.

Registration is free for undergraduate students who are not presenting.
Call for proposals for public symposia and related meetings will be sent out in January 2025. Please begin preparations if you are planning to organize a symposium or related meeting. Please note in advance that we may not be able to accommodate certain proposals or requests (such as room size or date and time), and we may ask you to merge multiple symposia.
