Amphibian Research Center, Hiroshima University https://amphibian.hiroshima-u.ac.jp/ ) is the world's number one and only entity among the four major amphibian centers in the world, boasting a history of over 50 years and possessing resources of both anuran (frogs) and urodela (newts and salamanders). Recent developments in genome projects and genome editing technologies are drastically changing the style of amphibian research, and the importance of bioresources centered on model amphibians suitable for these studies is ever-increasing.

In response to these research trends, Hiroshima University has newly constructed and commenced operation of a Bioresource Building. The functions of this Bioresource Building are expected to further advance amphibian research not only at Hiroshima University, but also both domestically and internationally. Therefore, we have decided to hold a symposium to commemorate the completion of the Amphibian Research Center Bioresource Building.
We invite many of you to take advantage of this opportunity and participate.

Starting after 13:00, we will hold a guided tour of the Amphibian Research Center's breeding facility for interested participants. You can see various fun frogs and newts.

Part 1 features cross-platform research as a keyword, introducing and discussing new insights opened up by comparative studies utilizing amphibians and other research animal models, along with the bioresources that support them. Part 2 focuses specifically on amphibian research, aiming to stimulate interaction starting from discussions among leading researchers and to vitalize the research community supporting cross-disciplinary science.
