Dear Members of the Zoological Society of Japan
The candidates for the next board of directors and the candidate for president have been decided through an election by our members.
In addition to the "Director Candidates" decided by this election, we hereby announce that the following three members are nominated as "Director Candidates" as recommended directors in accordance with the Detailed Regulations of the Articles of Incorporation below.
We have obtained the consent of the following three candidates for board membership, as well as the presidents of their respective chapters, to nominate them as candidates for the board of directors.
Shunsuke Taniguchi (Shimoda Marine Research Center, Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences, University of Tsukuba)
Mayako Kutsuwaka (Bioproduction Research Institute, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology)
Norifumi Konno (Department of Biochemistry, Graduate School of Science and Engineering for Education, University of Toyama)

(Fixed Number of Directors)
Article 8. Director candidates shall be elected by the members on a branch-by-branch basis through an election. The fixed number of directors for each branch, excluding the Kanto Branch, shall be two, and the fixed number of directors for the Kanto Branch shall be six.
The president and vice president may nominate a small number of director candidates in addition to those elected by the branches.

(2) Regarding director candidates recommended by the President and Vice Presidents, the selection shall be made taking into consideration diversity such as age, gender, area of expertise, and region, and it is required to obtain the consent of the nominee and the chairperson of the branch to which they belong.
These three members, like other candidates for the board of directors, will be excluded from the upcoming elections in each branch.
In addition, similarly to the previously announced candidates for directors elected by the election, they will become the next directors after being approved by the members at the first general meeting to be held at the Waseda Convention on Friday, September 9, 2022.
