The Smart Breeding Consortium has begun accepting applications for research grants for the practical application of genome editing technology for this term as well.

Genome Editing Technology Practical Application Research Grant (Get-Research Grant)

Established in 2021 by four genome-editing startups with the aim of advancing research levels utilizing genome-editing technology and expanding into industrial fields, we have been recruiting members through the Smart Breeding Council since 2023.
We look forward to applications from domestic researchers, covering everything from the basic research phase to the applied research phase, toward the industrialization of genome editing technology in the agriculture, forestry, fishery, and livestock sectors.

Application eligibility and restrictions
Young researchers (including students) with concrete plans to invent and develop superior genome editing-related technologies and breeding technologies themselves (the definition of a young researcher is not strictly defined)
Researchers affiliated with research institutions in Japan, or individuals conducting research in Japan

＜助成金額＞
・Maximum 3 million yen per case.
The Smart Breeding Council will select each and determine the winners. Depending on the research content, duplicate adoption across courses may be possible. In such cases, the upper limit may exceed 3 million yen.

Use of grant funds
(1) Expenses directly necessary for the implementation of the target project.
(2) Including the personnel expenses of the applicant (the applicant themselves, co-applicants).
(3) There are no restrictions based on budget years or limitations on the research implementation period.
