Overview of the 2nd World Marine Station Conference (WCMS 2024)
Around the world, there are marine research and educational facilities (marine stations) affiliated with universities, governments, and other institutions, numbering approximately 800. The World Association of Marine Stations (WAMS) is an organization aimed at fostering collaborative activities, information sharing, and international cooperation among these marine stations. At this international conference, we will report on and discuss WAMS's achievements and collaborative participation in United Nations activities, such as the SDGs. The 1st WCMS was held online and drew about 400 participants. This is the second conference, organized and operated by the Japanese Association for Marine Biology (JAMBIO), a cooperative network of Japanese marine stations primarily consisting of university-affiliated marine science and fisheries marine stations (marine laboratories and fisheries laboratories). We warmly invite many people to attend this first-ever in-person conference.
