We are launching a crowdfunding campaign today, in partnership with the Osumi Foundation for the Advancement of Basic Research, as a new initiative to broaden the foundation of basic research in Japan.

The Osumi Foundation for the Promotion of Basic Science was established by Nobel Laureate Dr. Yoshinori Osumi with the objective of supporting basic research born from the pursuit of truth and developing science as a culture. However, amid the recent trend of demanding short-term results, many studies harboring originality find themselves struggling to secure funding.

To break through this situation and build a society together where researchers can settle down and continue their research with peace of mind, we have set a target amount of 8 million yen and will raise funds to establish a new crowdfunding-type grant framework, running from Thursday, March 12, to Friday, May 22, 2026.

The first round of grant recipients is
- "Origins of the Electric Organ in Electric Eels" (Atsuo Iida)
・ "Plant Survival Strategies and Evolution" (Ikuko Nishimura)
