Information on the Asian Songbird Meeting 2026 (the English text is below.)

To Songbird and related researchers

Hello, my name is Satoshi Kojima from the Korea Brain Research Institute (KBRI). I am writing to invite you to the 1st Asian Songbird Meeting, which will be held in Suwon, South Korea, from September 14 to 16 this year.

This meeting expands upon the summer workshops held over the past few years by a small number of songbird research laboratories in Japan and South Korea, and starting this year, opens its doors to all researchers studying songbird vocal behavior and related topics across Asia. To deepen exchanges among researchers in geographically close Asian countries, we would be delighted if you and your laboratory members would encourage one another to participate.

One of the main purposes of this conference is to promote close interaction among researchers, including students, and lead to the advancement of research, including collaborative studies. Therefore, all participants will stay at relatively inexpensive accommodation (Suwon Youth Hostel) and give oral and poster presentations in a friendly atmosphere in the auditorium within the same facility (see below for details).

We need to urgently ascertain the approximate number of participants in order to secure accommodations, so those wishing to attend are requested to submit their registration via the link below by June 10 (a small number of additional participants can be accommodated even after the deadline).

If there is anyone who might be interested in this plenary session, I would appreciate it if you could forward this email to them.

Title: Invitation to the Asian Songbird Meeting 2026

Dear songbird and related researchers,

Hello, I am Satoshi Kojima, conducting neuroethological research on vocal learning and communication in songbirds at the Korea Brain Research Institute (KBRI). I am writing to invite you to attend the first Asian Songbird Meeting, which will be held in Suwon, South Korea, from September 14-16th this year.

This meeting is an expansion of the summer workshop that has been held over the past several years mainly among a small number of songbird laboratories in Japan and Korea. Starting this year, we would like to open it to everyone who studies songbird vocal behavior and related topics across Asia. We would be very happy if you and your lab members could join us and help strengthen connections among researchers in geographically neighboring Asian countries.

One of the main objectives of this conference is to encourage close interaction between researchers including students, and to promote the advancement of their research, including collaborative projects. Therefore, all participants will stay together at relatively affordable accommodations (Suwon Youth Hostel), and will hold oral and poster presentations in the hostel’s auditorium, fostering lively discussions in a friendly and collegial atmosphere (see below for more details).

To secure accommodation, we need to know the approximate number of participants as soon as possible. If you wish to participate, please register by June 10th using the link below.
