The 26th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society for Photobiology will be held at Ritsumeikan University on August 28–29, 2026.

The Japanese Photobiology Association is operated by the 12 academic societies listed below. Annual meetings are held regularly to facilitate the exchange of ideas among researchers and students with a broad interest in photobiology. Everyone interested in photobiology is welcome to attend the annual meetings. We look forward to your active participation and presentations.

Affiliated academic societies: Chemical Society of Japan, Japanese Society of Photosynthesis Research, Botanical Society of Japan, Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists, Japanese Biochemical Society, Biophysical Society of Japan, Zoological Society of Japan, Japan Society for Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Agrochemistry, Comparative Physiology and Biochemistry Society of Japan, Japanese Society for Photomedicine and Photobiology, Japan Radiation Research Society, The Photochemical Society of Japan

In addition to the general presentations being solicited this time, we also plan to hold four award-winning lectures by the association as follows.

Elucidation of optimization strategies for light energy utilization and defense mechanisms in photosynthetic organisms
Dr. Euncheol Kim (Assistant Professor (Principal Investigator), Department of Life Sciences, College of Humanities and Sciences, Nihon University)
Evolutionary diversity of transcriptional regulatory systems defining vertebrate photoreceptor cells
Yohei Ogawa, Ph.D. (Project Researcher / Project Assistant Professor, Laboratory of Molecular Life History, National Institute of Genetics)

- An Outstanding Presentation Award will be established for poster presentations, targeting students and young researchers within 5 years of obtaining their degree. If you select a poster presentation, please also indicate on the application form whether you wish to be considered for the Poster Presentation Award.
