In this program, with the cooperation of Professor Kazushi Miyagawa from Utsunomiya University, we are planning a research experience using water fleas as the subject.

Learning about animals leads to looking at and thinking about the world more carefully.
Observing small creatures with one's own eyes, thinking about why they behave that way, and verifying it. That experience becomes an important gateway for children to feel that science is close to them.

In recent years, opportunities for research presentations by high school students have also been established at the annual meetings of the Zoological Society, and we are increasingly witnessing scenes that reflect the inquisitive spirit of the younger generation and a growing interest in zoology. On the other hand, the reality is that opportunities to actually experience research tend to vary depending on the school environment, region, and connections with researchers.

Therefore, this time, as the Zoological Society of Japan, we would like to create an entry point for children and students to experience zoological research, and rather than letting that opportunity be a one-time event, we hope to nurture it continuously.

The donations we received will be used to cover expenses necessary for implementing the program, such as experimental reagents and remuneration for TAs.
