Determination of the Recipients of the 2024 Mariko Myohara Research Encouragement Grant

Dear Members of the Zoological Society of Japan

At the meeting of the Zoological Society of Japan Board of Directors held from 14:00 on Thursday, June 13, 2024, three candidates for the 2024 grants were recommended by the Mariko Miuhara Research Encouragement Grant Selection Committee.
As a result of its deliberation, the Zoological Society of Japan Board of Directors has decided to award grants to the following three individuals.

Azusa Kage (Azusa Kage) (Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, Gakushuin University)
Research Topic: "Behavioral basis of gravitaxis in swimming ciliates creating a three-dimensional niche"

Natsumi Mizuno (Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Fukui Hospital, Embryologist)
Research Project Title: "Elucidation of the Functions of Post-Translational Protein Modifications in Sperm"

Yuki Yoshida (Institute of Agrobiological Sciences, NARO, Fixed-term Researcher)
Research project title: "Search for master control factors involved in sex determination of the sleeping chironomid"
