Dear Members of the Zoological Society of Japan
Starting in fiscal year 2026, the Grant-in-Aid for Transformative Research Areas (A), "Multidimensional Glocal Photobiology: The Unknown Fertile Ground of Biological Phenomena Illuminated by Light," has officially begun (running through fiscal year 2030).
Using "light" as a common language, this field targets multidimensional and wide-ranging phenomena and research, spanning all biological taxa, from femtoseconds to hundreds of millions of years, from atoms to ecosystems, and from basic science to medicine.
