As autumn deepens, patrinia flowers are blooming all over here in Hiroshima. How are all of our members doing?
Registration and abstract submission for the 15th International Conference on Copepoda, which is also supported by our society, will begin on Monday, November 13 of this year. Planktonic copepods are the most important natural food source for fish, while parasitic species cause severe damage to the aquaculture industry. The latest research findings on this taxonomic group will be presented at this conference. Researchers studying copepods from all over the world will gather to discuss copepod phylogeny, evolution, invasive species, ecology, physiology, and symbiosis.
Additionally, a student training course (pre-conference workshop) will be held prior to this conference. A faculty of 13 copepod researchers, including Professor Rony Huys, a world authority on copepod phylogenetics and taxonomy, will conduct lectures and practical training in various fields, along with fieldwork aboard the Hiroshima University training vessel Toyoshio-maru. Japanese students are, of course, eligible to apply. Applications for this are also open starting today.
