The Department of Anatomy at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Fukui (Matsuoka Campus) is seeking one Technical Assistant (part-time) for the HFSP (Human Frontier Science Program) international collaborative research project titled “A molecular roadmap for the emergence of air breathing” (Evolution and developmental mechanisms of the labyrinth organ). The Principal Investigator (PI) is Takayuki Onai.
This project aims to elucidate the origin and formation mechanism of the "labyrinth organ," a specialized respiratory organ that enables air breathing, from the perspectives of developmental biology, molecular biology, and morphology.
My responsibilities are as follows:
Assistance with molecular experiments (RNA extraction, qPCR, HCR-FISH, etc.)
Assistance with microscopic observation and image acquisition
Care of experimental animals (such as cyclostomes and labyrinth fish), including aquarium maintenance and feeding.
Experience in biological experiments or breeding is welcome, as are strong teamwork skills and meticulous attention to detail. The position requires working 3 or more days per week (negotiable), and the workplace is the Matsuoka Campus of University of Fukui.
