JST, in co-sponsorship with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Japan, has started accepting applications for the 5th "Inspiring Women Researchers Award" (Maria Skłodowska-Curie Award), which recognizes promising early-career female researchers who are expected to play active roles internationally. We strongly encourage you to apply and to forward this information to anyone who meets the eligibility criteria.

*Marie Skłodowska-Curie: A world-class researcher born in Poland. She discovered polonium at age 31 and radium at age 32, became the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, and is the only person to date to have won Nobel Prizes in two different fields: the Nobel Prize in Physics and the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Grand Prize (1 person): 1 million yen prize money, plus travel and living expenses for a research trip to a research institution in Poland as an additional prize
Encouragement Award (2 winners): 500,000 yen cash prize
(The prize is awarded by JEOL Ltd., and the opportunity to visit Poland is awarded by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Japan and the Polish Academy of Sciences.)

◆Application Requirements:
Self-nomination and nomination by others are both accepted. In the case of nomination by others, the nominee's consent is required.
Female researchers (including postdocs) up to approximately 5 years after obtaining a doctoral degree as of April 1, 2026*, graduate students (doctoral program), and equivalents.
* Taking into consideration periods of suspension of research activities due to life events, etc.
Covering a wide range of research fields related to science and technology
